Israel H3478 has sinned, H2398 and they have also H1571 transgressed H5674 my covenant H1285 which H834 I commanded H6680 them: for they have even H1571 taken H3947 of the accursed H2764 thing, and have also H1571 stolen, H1589 and dissembled H3584 also, H1571 and they have put H7760 it even H1571 among their own stuff. Up, sanctify H6942 the people, H5971 and say, H559 Sanctify H6942 yourselves against to morrow: H4279 for thus H3541 said H559 the LORD H3068 God H430 of Israel, H3478 There is an accursed H2764 thing in the middle H7130 of you, O Israel: H3478 you can H3201 not stand H6965 before H6440 your enemies, H341 until H5704 you take H5493 away the accursed H2764 thing from among H7130 you.

And Jehoshaphat H3092 feared, H3372 and set H5414 himself H6440 to seek H1875 the LORD, H3068 and proclaimed H7121 a fast H6685 throughout H5921 all H3605 Judah. H3063

And Jehoshaphat H3092 stood H5975 in the congregation H6951 of Judah H3063 and Jerusalem, H3389 in the house H1004 of the LORD, H3068 before H6440 the new H2319 court, H2691

Are not you our God, H430 who did drive H3423 out the inhabitants H3427 of this H2063 land H776 before H6440 your people H5971 Israel, H3478 and gave H5414 it to the seed H2233 of Abraham H85 your friend H157 for ever? H5769

If, H518 when evil H7451 comes H935 on us, as the sword, H2719 judgment, H8196 or pestilence, H1698 or famine, H7458 we stand H5975 before H6440 this H2088 house, H1004 and in your presence, H6440 (for your name H8034 is in this H2088 house, H1004 ) and cry H2199 to you in our affliction, H6869 then you will hear H8085 and help. H3467

Behold, H2009 I say, how they reward H1580 us, to come H935 to cast H1644 us out of your possession, H3425 which H834 you have given us to inherit. H3423

After H310 these H428 things, H1697 and the establishment H571 thereof, Sennacherib H5576 king H4428 of Assyria H804 came, H935 and entered H935 into Judah, H3063 and encamped H2583 against H5921 the fenced H1219 cities, H5892 and thought H559 to win H1234 them for himself.

He took counsel H3289 with his princes H8269 and his mighty H1368 men to stop H5640 the waters H4325 of the fountains H5869 which H834 were without H2351 the city: H5892 and they did help H5826 him.

Also he strengthened H2388 himself, and built H1129 up all H3605 the wall H2346 that was broken, H6555 and raised H5927 it up to the towers, H4026 and another H312 wall H2346 without, H2351 and repaired H2388 Millo H4407 in the city H5892 of David, H1732 and made H6213 darts H7973 and shields H4043 in abundance. H7230

Be strong H2388 and courageous, H553 be not afraid H3372 nor H408 dismayed H2865 for the king H4428 of Assyria, H804 nor for all H3605 the multitude H1995 that is with him: for there be more H7227 with us than with him:

After H310 this H2088 did Sennacherib H5576 king H4428 of Assyria H804 send H7971 his servants H5650 to Jerusalem, H3389 (but he himself H1931 laid siege against H5921 Lachish, H3923 and all H3605 his power H4475 with him,) to Hezekiah H2396 king H4428 of Judah, H3063 and to all H3605 Judah H3063 that were at Jerusalem, H3389 saying, H559

Does not Hezekiah H2396 persuade H5496 you to give H5414 over yourselves to die H4191 by famine H7458 and by thirst, H6772 saying, H559 The LORD H3068 our God H430 shall deliver H5337 us out of the hand H3709 of the king H4428 of Assyria? H804

Know H3045 you not what H4100 I and my fathers H1 have done H6213 to all H3605 the people H5971 of other lands? H776 were the gods H430 of the nations H1471 of those lands H776 any ways able H3201 to deliver H5337 their lands H776 out of my hand? H3027

Now H6258 therefore let not Hezekiah H2396 deceive H5377 you, nor H408 persuade H5496 you on this H2063 manner, neither H408 yet believe H539 him: for no H3808 god H433 of any H3605 nation H1471 or kingdom H4467 was able H3201 to deliver H5337 his people H5971 out of my hand, H3027 and out of the hand H3027 of my fathers: H1 how H637 much H637 H3588 less shall your God H430 deliver H5337 you out of my hand? H3027

He wrote H3789 also letters H5612 to rail H2778 on the LORD H3068 God H430 of Israel, H3478 and to speak H559 against H5921 him, saying, H559 As the gods H430 of the nations H1471 of other lands H776 have not delivered H5337 their people H5971 out of my hand, H3027 so H3651 shall not the God H430 of Hezekiah H2396 deliver H5337 his people H5971 out of my hand. H3027

And they spoke H1696 against H413 the God H430 of Jerusalem, H3389 as against H5921 the gods H430 of the people H5971 of the earth, H776 which were the work H4639 of the hands H3027 of man. H120

And the LORD H3068 sent H7971 an angel, H4397 which cut H3582 off all H3605 the mighty H1368 men of valor, H2428 and the leaders H5057 and captains H8269 in the camp H4264 of the king H4428 of Assyria. H804 So he returned H7725 with shame H1322 of face H6440 to his own land. H776 And when he was come H935 into the house H1004 of his god, H430 they that came H3329 forth H3329 of his own bowels H4578 slew H5307 him there H8033 with the sword. H2719
