Fruits of the Great Commission

Written by

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, BAPTIZING them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” Matthew 28:19

How many times in our lives have we heard about, thought about, or spoke about the Great commission? We had joined in this commission of teaching and preaching about 2 years ago and now we see it. What we had prayed for, plus, the seeds that were planted and watered by many previous volunteers have brought forth fruit. In the past two years, we had seen those lives transformed from withdrawn to open. Hearts change from hard to soft. Complexions change from sadness to joy. This past month, seven of our Avoda students were baptized and have become members of our church.

One of the girls testifies,” the Lord has changed my life. Now I can forgive quickly.” Another testifies, ”Often, I hear a voice telling me to read the Bible. Before, I used to get angry fast, but now a voice tells me to understand them and to forgive. I now have friends. Before I didn’t and now God helps me to be kind to others.”  Another change is the eagerness in our students to visit a village school and build relationships with the students. Though the assigned day to visit is one day a week, they want to visit every day. “Teacher,” they call us,” let’s go and play with the kids.” We get on our bikes and go. The children receive us with joy and ask if we’ll be back the next day. We hope that trust will be built and these kids will soon be coming to our Saturday English school.

A new ministry opportunity the Lord has opened for us is to visit three surrounding schools to teach them English, every week. Our students go to help with the English programs as well.  Our goal is to build connections with the Administrators and educators who can then encourage their students to come to our Saturday school. In our Saturday school, the children get to not only learn English, but hear of new life. Our students participate as well, in passing down the skills they have such as guitar and crochet.

Our vision is to disciple our students and prepare them to go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.  Please join us in prayer in this commission!
